Adelynn Strong graduated in May 2023 with her Bachelors of Fine Art in Studio Art with a concentration in painting at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. A native of Fort Worth, Adelynn's early engagement with the visual arts began through photography, capturing intimate moments and urban landscapes that reflected both her environment and her evolving worldview. These formative experiences with visual storytelling laid the groundwork for her transition to painting - a medium through which she found a deeper, more tactile form of expression.

While photography provided a documentary lens into her surroundings, painting offered Adelynn a space to explore internal narratives. Her undergraduate studies at TCU have served not only to refine her technical abilities but also to deepen her conceptual engagement with art history, feminism, and symbolism. This academic context has been instrumental in shaping her current practice, which is rooted in both historical contexts and contemporary discourse.

Adelynn works primarily in oil, embracing the material richness and boundless potential of the medium to explore complex narratives centered on women’s experiences. What emerges is a body of work that challenges normative narratives and invites viewers into a space of reflection and possibility.

Upcoming Series

Awestruck by the Rococo and Baroque art styles of the 17th and 18th centuries, Adelynn plans to engage in a critical dialogue appropriating the time's formal grandeur and stylistic opulence to subvert and reimagine the traditional roles often assigned to women within historical and current frameworks. Central to the future work's theme is the reinterpretation of folk tales and fairy tales, narratives long embedded in the cultural imagination, as allegories for contemporary feminist concerns. These stories, often relegated to the realm of childhood and fantasy, are to be recast as dynamic sites of resistance, transformation, and self-actualization. Through this, she aims to fuse the fantastical with the real, crafting compositions that are as visually lush as they are thematically potent. These paintings seek to not merely re-tell old stories - but to interrogate them, unraveling inherited assumptions and replacing them with visions of empowerment and multiplicity. Her work will suggest that fantasy, far from being escapist, can be a radical framework through which to imagine social change and individual transformation.
